SRINAGAR, MAR 01 – After remaining closed for three-months for winter vacations, the private as well as government schools across the Valley reopened on Wednesday.
Students were seen very happy while going to their schools after the long vacations and the teachers were seen busy in welcoming the students. The students expressed joy over the warm welcome they received in their schools.
The students with colourful uniforms having lunch boxes in their hands were seen happily waiting for their school buses at respective stops in many parts of the city.
“I feel happy to join my classes again after spending more than two months at home,” a student at Lal Chowk said.
He said that during the period of three months, he missed his teachers, his classmates, friends and his school. “Now, the reopening of school from today has brought happiness among me,” he said.
The schools up to class 5th were ordered to observe winter vacation from December 1 to February 28, the classes from 6th to 8th from December 12 and those from 9th to 12th standard from December 19. However, the teaching staff of high and higher secondary schools, as per the government order, has already reported to their respective schools from February 20 of 2023 for making arrangements regarding preparation of ensuing examinations.
In view of the reopening of the schools, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has fixed the timings of schools falling within Srinagar Municipal limits from 9am to 2pm, with effect from March 01 of 2023. The new timing has been notified for Srinagar schools to avoid traffic gridlock in the city centre.
