An Initiative To Start-Up

Funding youth for the purpose of making small-scale business initiatives in Kashmir is the need of the hour. Unemployment and its consequences are getting on the nerves of young people as its causes have not been fixed yet. Understanding the issue of joblessness and creating ways for the jobless is the prior requirement of the administration. The introduction of the ‘J&K Start-up Policy – 2018-2028’ is one such scheme to ensure the development of youth in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Start-up in the region is aimed to bring about the potential of youth and utilize it in the advancement of the people and the valley. This decade-long project will help to build 500 new start-ups across the UT and includes the sectors like Agriculture (Horticulture and Floriculture), Textiles, Apparel and Fashion Technology, Renewable Energy, Handicrafts and Handlooms and their design element, Electronics System Design and Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Construction and Engineering, Food Processing and Allied activities. Under this scheme, start-ups will get a monthly allowance of incentives of 10,000 rupees and provides co-working space with uninterruptible high-speed internet at a subsidized price through JKEDI (The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute). These start-ups will remove most of the complexities from the lives of young men and women struggling for their livelihood. Entrepreneurship in the valley will not only generate employment opportunities for the people but help them introduce commodities and services that are not currently available here and keep people from benefitting themselves.
