The previous year witnessed a huge change in the handicraft sector in Kashmir. Various changes were made in the department including the authentication of the rich crafts of the valley. Introduction of GI tag as an indication of the attestation of the purest craft and art material, the appearance of the craft at an international platform, and recognition of the artisans at the global level. As a part of revolutionising the handicraft sector in Kashmir, the Department of Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu and Kashmir launched online services. These services are operable to artisans, weavers, trainees, and other stakeholders. The services are integrated with the Single Window system. All handicrafts and handloom products are made available under this system. The training also will be imparted to trainees under this system. The move aims at the establishment of permanent assistance to the artisans and introduces ease to the sector. This will also improve the quality of the trade (the import and the export) of the products. The delivery of fine art material online will be delivered smoothly throughout the world. By providing the artisans with this facility, the authority has decided to reduce the economic strain that has burdened these poor fellows and never let them grow in the field of much-adored craft. The initiative will allow the artisans to make their way through the difficult trials. The livelihood is eased by every means for the people related to the art. Such initiatives are welcomed and more are sought in the future.
