Mayor of Srinagar reviews progress on projects under SSCL

SRINAGAR, NOV 01 – Junaid Azim Mattu, the Mayor Srinagar today took a detailed review of various ongoing projects carried out by Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) at SMC headquarters.

The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman Lakes and Conservation Management Authority, Secretary LCMA, General Manager P&UD, SSCL, Joint Commissioner (Works) SMC, Superintendent Engineer LCMA, Executive Engineer Right River Wing Division SMC, concerned design and engineering team and other officials from SMC.

During the meeting, the Mayor directed concerned officers to put a workable action plan in place for the repair and retro-fitting of three existing bridges at Karam Shah (RA), Saida Kadal. He emphasized that being a motor-able road the repairing of these three bridges can save a distance of two kilometers for the vehicles.

In the meeting, the proposal put forward by SSCL to LCMA regarding the transformation of Mir Behri Dal into a tourist village was threadbare discussed.

On the occasion, VC LCMA gave a detailed report to the Mayor. It was proposed that about 30,000 households residing in the interiors of Dal Lake should be rehabilitated.

Highlighting the importance of development of community infrastructure for Dal inhabitants, it was further proposed that community infrastructure interventions should be made. Further the participants in the meeting also proposed to make repairs in LCMA jurisdiction viz. processes and coordination.

Laying stress on having one plan for the area, the officials stressed to work on the project in a phased manner. The Mayor SMC directed that a tentative estimate of the project should be made in a time bound manner.

In the meeting, Mattu also discussed the development of a play field at Shanpora area in Srinagar. “An estimated cost of Rs 3 crore have been already approved by Capex for the construction of state of art playfield in the locality and the modalities of work for the construction of cricket field and leveling of football field is also being worked out,” the Mayor informed the participants in the meeting.

During the meeting, the Mayor directed the officials to make provisions for construction of road along Govt. Higher Secondary School at Rakh e Arth.

For the purpose of sanitation in the Rakh e Arth area, he said they have already outsourced work. About 20 personnel have been deployed for the sanitation works in the area, Mattu said.

Further, the Mayor directed (Works) SMC, Executive Engineer LCMA, SC Drainage to visit the Rakh-e-Rath to frame out an action plan for the development of the area.

At the conclusion, the Mayor directed the officials from various departments to work with coordination on all the undergoing projects and complete them in a stipulated time.
