DC reviews functioning of Education department in Kathua

Asks for rationalisation of staff to overcome problem in schools facing shortage

KATHUA – Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey reviewed the functioning of Education Sector here at a meeting held at the conference hall of DC Office complex, the other day.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Uttam Singh, Chief Education Officer Kathua P.L Thapa, XEN REW, XEN PWD and other concerned.

At the outset, the Chief Education Officer briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the education profile of the district and apprised him about the status of Teacher-Student ratio in the district with thirteen Educational Zones.

The Deputy Commissioner laid emphasis on strengthening the Education indicators which would ultimately help in improving the overall Education scenario of the district.

The DC also called upon the CEO to compile data depicting the availability and shortage of staff in each education zone to   address the problem through rationalisation of teaching staff.

The DC also laid thrust on convergence of Health and ICDS with School Education, who have a role of Nodal Department in achieving the all round physical and mental growth of the students at all levels.

The DC further asked the CEO to keep a track of enrollment and ensure all the eligible students availing pre-matric scholarship continue to avail the benefits up to post matric and keep a check on any  dropout.

The meeting also reviewed the developmental activities in the Education sector being executed through PRIs, construction of school buildings under SAMAGRA, dropout rate, staff position and financial progress on all the works.

The DC also took a comprehensive review of the developmental works being executed by different Execution Agencies. He directed the concerned to expedite the work so as to meet its completion timelines.
