SRINAGAR – One Day Awareness Programme as part of 2nd Menstrual Hygiene Seminar was conducted by JK Woman’s Welfare Foundation at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothi Bagh, Srinagar supported by Indian Army. Approx 130 Girls Student attended the Awareness programme which focussed primarily upon Awareness and need to break the taboo/ Stigma associated with the Menstrual Hygiene in society and specially in Girls/ Woman’s.

The NGO raised the awareness and talked about challenges in our society associated with the Menstrual Hygiene Education in Colleges/ Schools and emphasised  upon the essential period-friendly initiatives and sanitisation facilities required in the schools and colleges.

Mr Nusrat Bukhari Principal, GGHS Kothibagh, Mrs Raja Anjum, Dy CEO and Mrs Hina Amin, Nodal Officer and Chief Coordinator were present during the seminar.

The Seminar commenced with the Welcome address and introductory speech by Mrs Sufi Snober, Chairperson JK Woman’s Welfare Foundation NGO working on issues of Women Empowerment, Menstrual Hygiene and Gender equality issues in Srinagar, Kashmir followed by Lecture cum talk on medical & health aspects by Maj Kalpana, Nursing Officer of Indian Army followed by talk on Psychological aspects associated with the Menstrual Hygiene and in the end lecture cum talk on Career Management by Girls was taken by Lt Col Neeta Dubey of Indian Army.

Book written by Hamjoli Foundation were also distributed to Girls students and school who attended the Awareness Programme and Seminar.

The Awareness Seminar on Menstrual Hygiene was successfully conducted by JK Woman’s Welfare Foundation, NGO with the help and support of Indian Army.
