JAMMU – The NSS at SMVD University organized a week-long “Clean Campus Drive” as a part of the “Green Campus” initiative. The drive started daily in the morning at 6:45 AM for one hour to collect plastic wastes like bottles and wrappers. Sweeping of roads and other pathways on campus was also carried out during the campaign. The NSS volunteers were assigned different groups, and each group was allocated one location to be cleaned on campus. On the last day of the drive, the activity was carried out along the boundary of the University outside the campus. More than 80 NSS volunteers participated in this week-long cleanliness drive. Dr Rajiv Kumar, Programme Coordinator, NSS SMVDU congratulated the volunteers for successfully executing the drive. The Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, Prof. R.K. Sinha, also appreciated the efforts of volunteers and suggested that such activities should be planned every month.
