SRINAGAR –  Tourism department seeks hassle free movement of tourists to reach their respective destinations amid weekend lockdown so as to avoid negative impact on the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

In view of the surge in Covid-19 cases, the Jammu and Kashmir government imposed a weekend lockdown  in the Union Territory on Saturday to contain the spread of the virus.
Director Tourism Kashmir in a communique to division authorities said tour and travel operators across the valley have alleged that the tourists are not being allowed to proceed to the respective destinations particularly to Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg during the covid-restrictions despite the tourists following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)  properly.
He has urged the government to issue necessary instructions to the district administration to allow hassle free movement of tourists and their vehicles within Kashmir valley including Srinagar so that there is no negative impact on the tourism sector.
It  also said the lockdown is likely to cause difficulties to the tourists who have already arrived in Kashmir following a pre-planned itinerary and they should be allowed to move during the lockdown period without any difficulty.
