LG For Tough Measures To Prevent Omicron Spread In J&K

SRINAGAR –  Lieutenant Government Manoj Sinha on Friday called for the need to have tough measures as he reviewed measures against covid-19 situation.

“Due to surge in cases of new variant Omicron worldwide, we need to have tough measures in place to prevent contagion. Civil & Police administration to ensure everyone follows COVID-appropriate behaviour,” he said in a tweet.

Sinha reviewed J&K’s COVID-19 situation and discussed preventive measures to be implemented against the emerging scenario.

“District Admins to carry out analysis of Covid trend in their respective districts and identify the reasons of surge to deploy effective strategies. Optimal utilization of RTPCR tests and accelerated vaccination drive is the top priority,” he said. “Health department to ensure every patient gets the benefit of Sehat Golden Card.”

He said the J&K administration’s aim is to provide the best medical care to everyone without any strain on their finances. “Districts with low number of Sehat Golden cards to ensure its 100% saturation,” he added.

Meanwhile Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather visited Srinagar International Airport to review Covid-19 testing and other health care facilities.

A spokesperson of the Directorate of Health Services said the Director took first hand appraisal of Covid testing for travelers and other related protocols.

He also took a review of fresh guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India in view of rise in omicron cases.

During the visit, the director along with the health officials deputed at the airport, interacted with travelers and inspected their vaccination certificates.

Dr Mushtaq also interacted with travelers and discussed with them the arrangements like testing and other protocols at the airport. The Director appreciated the work of Covid management team of the airport.

He also visited the dispensary at the airport which is run by the health department and took stock of the health care arrangements being provided to travelers.

Dr Mushtaq said that due to the coordinated efforts between the health department, district administration  and the airport authorities they have been able to manage COVID-19 situation at the airport.

He said the health department is trying its level best to main high standard protocols as laid down by the Government of India from time to time.

The Director directed the health officials to implement the guidelines and ensure that every traveller is tested and all the precautionary measures are put in place to help contain the virus spread.
