SRINAGAR – Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu on Tuesday termed UNESCO tag to Srinagar as a milestone achievement and a biggest day for the whole district.

Addressing mediapersons in Srinagar , Mattu termed UNESCO tag to Srinagar as the biggest day for the whole district and have decided to go for a month-long celebratory events for such an achievement.
He said serious efforts, lot of hardwork and dedication have ensured that Srinagar achieves this milestone.
“ We have been pursuing this since 2018 and finally after the hard work and serious efforts by the SMC Commissioner and other officers concerned, we have finally achieved the milestone. It is the biggest day for the whole of Srinagar,” Mattu said.

He said, there would be a month-long event regarding arts & crafts and other issues to celebrate the big event and achievement.

SMC Commissioner, Athar Amir Khan, who was present at the moment , said the SMC’s proposal for UNESCO tag was endorsed after hectic efforts by one and all.

“We are working together to achieve more milestones in the future,” he said.
