Film Policy 2021: ‘JK capable of hosting millions of films tourists to generate higher revenues’

SRINAGAR –  Authorities have said that Jammu and Kashmir have a potential of hosting millions of film tourists that could help in generating higher revenues in the years ahead.

According to the film policy 2021, “Jammu and Kashmir has the potential for millions of film tourists leading to higher revenues in the coming years.”

The film policy states, “Films shot in Jammu and Kashmir have helped promote existing as well as new tourist destinations.”

The policy states that the heritage and spiritual sites here have also been another favourite destination for shooting films by most of the film producers. “Most destinations of J&K have gained tourist attraction by virtue of being the venue for shooting of some famous domestic movies,” it reads.

Film policy further states that the adventure tourism in JK has given additional opportunities to film producers to add adventure activities in their movies.

“All destinations where films have been shot have seen a large increase in the number of tourists and there is a huge untapped potential for pre-production and post-production related activities relating to the film and television industry,” it reads.

Stating the strategy of the film policy-2021, authorities have said that the local administration was trying to make the best possible efforts towards creation of a vibrant film ecosystem in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The authorities have said that it was taking efforts to create a suitable environment and promotion of film production in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Renovation and up-gradation of the existing infrastructure and administrative assistance to ease film making in Jammu and Kashmir by setting up Single Window Cell to grant permission for shooting films, preferably within two to four weeks,” reads the strategy of policy.
