JAMMU –  Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer on Wednesday visited Mini Stadium Parade and inspected the ongoing development works being executed to up-grade the sports ground.

On the occasion, the Engineers of Sports Council briefed the Div Com about the status of works upgrading work of the playfield, Main Pavilion, drainage network besides other works.

The Div Com expressed his dismay over the slow pace of work and asked the executing agency to expedite the pace by working in double shifts to complete the project within the stipulated time frame.

The Div Com directed the concerned engineers to create specified entry and exit points and improve the drainage system around the stadium.

He asked the authorities of the Sports Council to monitor the progress on a regular basis to ensure timely completion of the works and submit a weekly progress report in this regard.

The Div Com said that the Government of UT is committed to upgrade existing Sports infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir to provide adequate facilities to the sports persons.

Pertinently, the up-gradation work at Mini Stadium was started in November last year under languishing projects.

The up-gradation plan of the stadium includes footfall turf, construction of toilet complex, redesigning of entry gates, drainage system, improvement of pavilion, upgrading of sitting  and parking spaces etc.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the Executive Engineer and contractor to expedite the pace of work and make the stadium ready by ending November to enable the sportsperson to avail the upgraded Sports facilities at the earliest. He also instructed them to prepare a completion plan of each work executed there.

During the visit, the Div Com was accompanied by officers of Sports Council, Youth Services and Sports, concerned Engineers of Engineering wing of Sports Council and other concerned.
