New Delhi –  Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said there is no plan to reopen schools as chances of witnessing the third wave of COVID-19 still persist.

“Some parts of the world have witnessed third wave. We cannot risk the lives of children. First priority is getting all adult population vaccinated,” Mr Kejriwal told media persons here.

All schools in Delhi remained closed since March last year. After the first wave ebbed, schools were reopened for higher classes for practical work and taking guidance from the teachers but closed again after the second wave struck.

The schools are operating through a virtual medium with classes being held online.

The risk of children getting infected from COVID-19 remains high as people above 18 years are eligible for vaccination.
