A Sacrificial Sense

The pious days have arrived with a sacrificial sense. It has an effect and should have an effect on all the muslims. These days are more beneficial in terms of rewards – the more you spend in praying, the higher your rewards will be. The ten days before we celebrate Eid-al-Adha are revered and meant for sacrifice. The Eid fest does not only mean to sacrifice animals in the way of Allah, the almighty but it means to surrender our ‘self.’ We need to sacrifice our ego and try to connect those who we had cut. We need to sacrifice our activities and spare more time to spend with Allah. We need to sacrifice our comfort and remember to pray every time. However, it needs to be recalled that Allah is recording our good deeds. The divine power is watching over us and preparing ten rewards for a single deed. These days bring us closer to Allah, the almighty, and restraint us from sins. These ten days add zest to the lives of muslims and teach us to serve our religion and our lord well. With all these foregoing sacrifices, these ten days lead us to the major sacrifice of animals that depicts the true reverence of the muslims for their Lord. Witness to the sacrifice is the Lord himself. The sacrifice of animals is done specifically for the Lord and to follow the practice of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). These days are as revered as the practice of sacrifice itself. The good deeds are accepted at the end of the day and a muslim is forgiven of the previous sins. This way the muslims are purified and their spirits glorified for the rest of their lives.
