SRINAGAR – Jammu and Kashmir reported 521 new covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, lowest single-day spike in 75 days, even as four more persons succumbed to the virus during the time, officials said on Saturday.

Among the fresh cases, they said, 175 were reported from Jammu Division and 346 from Kashmir Valley, taking the total case tally to 311209.

Regarding the deaths, two each were reported Jammu Division and Kashmir Valley respectively, taking the fatality count to 4238, the officials said. It was the lowest death toll in 63 days, they said.

Providing the district-wide details, the officials said that Srinagar reported 117 cases, Baramulla 20, Budgam 44, Pulwama 33, Kupwara 24, Anantnag 49, Bandipora 22, Ganderbal 16, Kulgam 18, Shopian 3, Jammu 26, Udhampur 19, Rajouri 17, Doda 39, Kathua 16, Samba 14, Kishtwar 12, Poonch 22, Ramban 5 and Reasi 5.

Meanwhile, they said, two more mucormycosis (black fungus) cases were confirmed in J&K, taking the number of confirmed cases to 24.

Moreover, they said, 1197 more COVID-19 patients have recovered—359 from Jammu Division and 838 from Kashmir Valley. So far 297557 people have recovered, leaving active positive cases at 9414—3357 in Jammu and 6057 in Kashmir, they added.

A number of fresh covid-19 cases were confirmed at diagnostic labouratories of CD hospital here and GMC Anantnag.
