So true that the valley of Kashmir has been witnessing trauma for ages and is now on the verge of excessive anxiety among people. The culture shock in Kashmir has led to many evils like social crimes, drug abuse, and suicides. These evils are spreading faster than a forest fire in our communities. No particular reason can be blamed for the transformation of mindset, lifestyle, and attitude towards the customary problems. Suicide has been nothing out of the ordinary, though it was never included in the culture of Kashmir. The patience to deal with unpredictable and complicated situations has narrowed. People, especially youth seem enfeebled with the passing time. The evil rate is increasing and we are yet to unravel the ways we can save human lives. To talk about suicide has become an everyday talk. The role of people in peoples’ lives has condensed. The emotions are not properly wired among people. There is a lack of trust among souls that leads them to self-containment and uncommunicativeness which serves as a basic reason for the lack of creating a healthy and positive environment for themselves. To rely on people could have been better than relying on noxious drugs. To open up to others in a friendly way could have been a better option than the suicidal thoughts. To consider the quality of living could have been far better than considering the standard of one’s living. The psyche of people needs to be channelized so as to improve the quality of life they are living. Undoubtedly, there are hurdles in the way of acquiring better ways to stimulate positiveness in the region, but it’s never too late or too difficult to change the approach prevailing in the valley.
