Covid containment showing visible in Jammu District: DC

‘Positivity rate dips to below 5%, recovery rate touches 90%’

JAMMU: Deputy Commissioner,  Anshul Garg  today said that Covid containment  has shown  visible improvement  in Jammu district  with  recovery rate touching 90 % and  positivity rate declining to less than 5%.

This Deputy Commissioner was   briefing the media about the current Covid situation in Jammu District, here at a press conference.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that as recovery rate is better than rate of active cases, the bed occupancy has been reduced to 200 patients in GMC.

“Equivalent testing in rural and urban areas has been given emphasis as 70 dedicated teams have been designated for testing in rural areas” he added.

Anshul Garg further informed that a total 4.9 lakh persons  have been inoculated ,  including 3.65 lakhs of  45+ age group and 55 thousand that of 18-44 age group. He also informed that 35 vaccination sites including 5 sites for covaxin and 30 sites for covishield have been created  to intensify vaccination.

On mitigating the sufferings of the affected people, the Deputy Commissioner said that Covid morality survey SAKSHAM has been activated on the directions of Lieutenant Governor, under which pension/scholarship is being  provided as relief to the Covid victim families. He informed that a survey is being conducted by the Social Welfare Department and 80 families have been identified so far.

Anshul Garg also appealed to the people to avail benefits of the Covid Care Centres activated at all 305 Panchayats which have 5 bedded facilities with one oxygenated bed.

He again appealed to the people to keep following the restrictions and SOPs/guidelines issued by the Administration as they are for their own benefits and protection from Covid-19.

          He informed that people can also share thier grievances on official Twitter account of Deputy Commissioner “@dcjammuofficial” or through Facebook “District Administration Jammu” and “District Information Center Jammu”.
