The Habitual Shifts

Assuring Crime Free Society

The Covid-19 pandemic has been a verifiable loss to the business sector in Jammu and Kashmir. Since the outbreak of the second wave of Covid-19 in India, the whole of the Union Territory is miserably suffering under lockdown. All the business ventures in Jammu and Kashmir have been closed for over a month now which, adversely is affecting the livelihood of many. Food and essential commodities have always been acquirable, hence not affecting those who deal with the stuff. The terrible ordeal is faced by small business owners like shopkeepers, firms, agencies, public transport, and enterprises. Though not for the first time the valley is forced to face financial loss, this time it is mandatory not to face the crowd for the sake of safekeeping the lives. The pandemic is now taking a toll on the lives of people who solely depend on their daily source of income. Seeking help from the administration, the business committees, and federations have asked for relaxation in a phased manner so that none of the communities face financial crises. Certainly, the fatality rate in the territory has decreased, but this still is not a nod to continue the normal business. Nevertheless, there is always a high risk of transmission of this deadly virus among people. Unlocking the territory may willy-nilly affect everyone in a way or the other. This has again been a challenge for the authority to decide whether to put the UT under curfew and continue with it or save peoples’ necessities by the would-be-unlock. These are the testing times for the public since they are suffering the worst physically, socially, mentally, emotionally, and financially. The obligation lays on the shoulders of the authority to help the common people in times of crisis with their subsistence.
