Srinagar/Jammu: AICC Covid Task Force Chairman and Former   LOP Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad and J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Shri Ghulam Ahmad Mir, on Saturday, held detailed discussions over the current covid situation in J&K and expressed serious concern over the high number of mortalities in especially in Jammu amidst reports of shortcomings in the required facilities.

Both the leaders shared the pain and   grief of those who lost their near and dear ones due to Covid and conveyed their heartfelt condolences to them besides expressing deep sympathies with those facing the sufferings of the situation.

 

Taking review of the initiatives and efforts of the LG administration to deal with the situation, Former Union Health Minister expressed deep concern over the high number of casualties in Jammu besides loss of several lives in Kashmir and urged for immediate measures to save the loss of lives.

The leaders also discussed the reports about the bedding capacities, availability of medicine, ambulance services and other facilities and various reports of shortcomings  in the logistics in different hospitals and felt the urgent need   to address those on top priority and asked the LG administration to upgrade the health infrastructure on war footing basis, as the situation is extremely disappointing and needs to be contained to avoid further loss of lives.

 

Both Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ghulam Ahmad Mir urged the rank and file of the party to reach out and be in touch with the patients in hospitals or home quarantine and provide them all possible help by way of medicines, food packets, masks or arranging oxygen cylinders from private outlets or any other required help to ensure timely relief to patients, without any aim of publicity .

Meanwhile the PCC Covid Committees at Jammu and Kashmir have been asked to be in touch with the district Congress committees which have already been converted to act as Covid monitoring committees , JKPCC said.
