IRCS Jammu celebrates World Red Cross Day

Div Com advises volunteers to reach out needy amid Covid pandemic

JAMMU:  Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region today celebrated World Red Cross Day at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni as a mark of respect to the founder of Red Cross Movement “Sir Henry Dunant”.  The theme of the world Red Cross Day 2021 is “#Unstoppable”.

The Red Cross Day function started with a flag hoisting ceremony by Chief Guest Divisional Commissioner cum Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, Dr. Raghav Langer, followed by Red Cross Pledge and Prayer by the gathering, Members Indian Red Cross Society and Red Cross Volunteers.

Floral Tributes  were  also paid  to founder of Red Cross by  Divisional Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer; Secretary, Indian Red  Cross  Society, Jammu Region, Vinod Malhotra; Executive Members of Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, Anil Suri, Surinder Mahajan,  and S.C.Bali ,  Former Member , IRCS.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Raghav Langer, congratulated the IRCS Jammu and maintained  that there  was great scope for doing  much more activities in a coordinated and more scientific manner to reach  and cover the maximum number of people who  need Red Cross support  during  this Covid-19 Pandemic.

He said that this is a unique organization with the Government support and takes care of every section of Society, especially the sick and the suffering lot. He sought cooperation of all departments and members of public in reaching out to the unreached.

Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region,  Vinod Malhotra, briefed about the activities being carried out  by  Indian Red Cross Society and its  future plan of action.

Later, the Divisional Commissioner visited the IRCS vaccination centre setup at Indian Red Cross Society premises from 8th Feb, 2021. He expressed   satisfaction over the working of the vaccination centre. He appreciated all the staff members of IRCS who are working as Front Line Warriors and are playing an extra-ordinary role.
