DC Jammu reviews progress of works under MGNREGA, SBM

JAMMU: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg today convened a meeting of Rural Development Department to review the progress of works under MGNREGA besides other activities being executed under Swachh Bharat Mission at DC Office Complex.

ACD Amit Vermani, DPO Sunaina Saini, BDOs besides other senior officers of the concerned department were present in the meeting.

At the outset, ACD appraised the Chair regarding progress of various works under MGNREGA through a power point presentation. He informed that there are total 77414 job cards have been issued and 109779 workers have been registered out of which 54552 job cards are active and 65346 workers are active. He further appraised that Aadhaar Seeding is at 86.65% where as Geo-tagging is at 98.91%.

The Deputy Commissioner was further appraised about the progress of other works under MGNREGA like water conservation and water harvesting, rural connectivity and sanitation, development of play fields at each panchayat, construction of panchayat ghars, renovation of traditional water bodies, flood control and protection etc.

While reviewing the performance indicators of MGNREGA, the Deputy Commissioner asked all the concerned officers to gear up their efforts to achieve the projected targets which are lagging behind, so that objective of the scheme is achieved.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that various activities under “Catch the rain save the Water” initiative by Jal Shakti Department will be initiated at each gram panchayat of Jammu district from 7 of April till November 2021. He directed the BDOs to identify water bodies for rejuvenation or restoration. He also asked them to identify building, especially government building, where roof-top water harvesting can be done.

Regarding the PMAY, the DC directed the officers to hold intensive review meetings on regular basis so that the guidelines and timelines are strictly adhered to. He directed the officers to monitor the progress made at panchayat level regarding implementation of the schemes and submit progress reports accordingly.
