Budgam: The authorities on Tuesday made wearing of face masks compulsory in central Kashmir’s Budgam district in view of the recent spike in Covid-19 cases across the country.
As per the order, those who are found without wearing face masks outside their homes shall be imposed with a fine of Rs 500 for the first offence and Rs 1000 for repeat offence.
The order was issued under Section 144 Cr. PC and Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005. “Wearing of masks shall be mandatory in the district w.e.f 23/03/2021 for all persons moving out of their homes for any purpose,” the orders reads.
It further reads that the Concerned SDM/Tehsildar shall ensure compliance of these directions through deployment of field staff at all the prominent Public places within their respective jurisdiction and shall furnish daily report to the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Budgam.
“Executive Officers of the Municipal Conmittees shall conduct inspection within their respective jurisdiction and ensure usage of masks by the general public.”
It further reads that the Sub Divisional Police Officers and Station House Officers shall also ensure mandatory wearing of face masks in their respective jurisdiction.
“The violators shall be imposed penalty of Rs.500 for the first offence and Rs 1000 for repeat offence by the concerned officials deployed for the duty and the amount shall be credited to the District Red Cross Society under proper receipt. All the above mentioned officers are authorised to impose the fines.”
It reads that the entire exercise shall be personally monitored by the Additional Deputy Commissioner/SDMs within their respective jurisdiction through field.
