Truck trying to smuggle liquor held, 6084 bottles recovered

Chandigarh:  Tightening screw against liquor smuggling, Haryana Police has confiscated 6084 bottles of illicit Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) when the consignment was being loaded in a truck for smuggling from a scrap shop in Nuh district.
Giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that Police have impounded the truck bearing Rajasthan registration number and seized the consignment which was packed in 507 cartons.
Divulging the details, he said that a secret input was received that accused Irfan had kept hiding boxes of illicit liquor in his scrap shop located near Punhana-Hodal Road, which are being loaded in a truck for sale. Based on input, a raid was conducted at the location where accused shifting the consignment from scrap shop into the truck. Three accused fled as soon as they saw the police approaching. All have been identified and police parties are being dispatched to nab them.
A case under relevant sections of Excise Act was registered against the accused and further investigation into this case has been taken up.
In another crackdown, Police has arrested a proclaimed offender and rewarded criminal, carrying a bounty of Rs 5000, from Nuh district. About one-and-half dozens of heinous criminal cases pertaining to murder, attempt to murder, cattle smuggling were unearthed with their arrest. Police had arrested Jameel from village Luhingakalan following a secret input. Police had been looking for him for a long time. More incidents are expected to be revealed on interrogation of the miscreant, he added.
