Jalandhar: The COVID-19 pandemic claimed nine lives in this district on Tuesday as per the report issued by the civil hospital authorities.
With the addition of these new deaths, the total death toll in the district due to coronavirus has reached 778.
During the past five days more than 24 persons have died due to the virus in Jalandhar.
Meanwhile 143 more cases of COVID-19 were detected in the district taking the total tally of infections to 24,207, out of which 21,839 have been discharged so far after recovery.
At present, there are a total of 1590 active cases in the district out of which 1037 are under medical supervision in home isolation and 61 are under treatment at the civil hospital here.
