DEAR PARENTS, DON’T PRESSURIZE US.

In the modern times, each student knows that they have to do something legal in their lives to become something and to earn for his or her family and for himself or herself. When a baby is born in our land, the first thing that comes in the minds of the parents is that our babies will have to become doctors. It is very important that parents are with us in determining our future. It also is true that they have a lot of experience but it makes no sense that any profession or job is thrusted upon a child or a student. Someone has rightly said that if one is interested in any job, it never looks a job; but a fun. This is the first kind of pressure on the child. It makes a child’s life dull and boring. Instead, learning should have been a game of learning and learning. There should have been happiness everywhere. Personality development should have to be achieved while doing anything of our taste.

Second is that you have to be like that very boy or girl. It is because they have become doctors. When they are not compared with me, why I should be compared with them. We all are genius. But we set the wrong parameters for judging. I will try to my best to achieve what I want to be. What does it mean to compare and contrast? I can’t understand. My genes are different. My mind is different. My tastes are different. My way of approaching things is different. My way of adjustment is different. My way of life is different. How can I be compared with others? They have their own lives. Let them and me live. Don’t sermonize unnecessarily.

Third is that if you don’t become a doctor or an engineer, other professions or tastes have no worth. If it is the case, why you don’t only keep the Natural Sciences and the Engineering Courses in schools, colleges, universities, etc., and throw out other different streams? What a mindset it is! Aristotle can be the father of Biology and Political Science. My teacher told me that he read an article in the monthly magazine, Science Reporter, Where he had come across a scientist, who was proficient in History of the Romans. What does it mean? It means that we have learnt education but we are not educated. We have pieces of degrees but our soul is dark. Every art and subject is meaningful. There is no scope in the subjects. Scope lies in us. Kalpana Chawla died in her dream shuttle. But she became immortal forever. So, I hope from today, no parent will take any subject lightly. Moreover, where does JK Rowling stand? The author of the Harry Potter Series should have been made doctor forcefully here. She enjoys her job. She is creative and likes to live. Which student is happy after taking the Medical Science as a stream? A majority are unhappy happy. They only feign. They don’t want to get humiliated. It is my opinion that we should stop feigning. We should try to liveourselves.

So, at the end, I request the parents that please let your children live their lives. They can be dancers, astronauts, storytellers, actresses, actors, singers, lyricists, poets, etc., but give them a chance. The movies “ 3 Idiots and “ Taree Zameen Par” are the best examples of this. The children are stars. Give them a chance to shine on the Earth. I promise that they will enlighten you like the stars in the Sky. Greta Thunberg is speaking her heart. Can’t we?
