Skyrocketing Prices: Address Concerns

The people across the Valley have been facing immense hardships as the government has failed to come up with the expectations of the people over controlling the black marketing and skyrocketing prices of essentials in the markets here. One fails to understand why the markets go unchecked always in the Valley, which at the end of the day brings miseries to the people. The million dollar question amid such a situation remains, who is going to set the things correct in the Valley. The people have been promised of better governance from time to time, but in the end, they were forced to face hardships due to the official apathy. Every time the government, especially the concerned department, are coming up with statements, claiming stringent measures for the people involved in black marketing and charging exorbitant rates to the people. However, the ground situation is contrary as the majority of the shops in Srinagar and elsewhere don’t even bother to paste the rate list in their shops, thus paving a way for themselves to charge hefty amounts to the people for essential commodities. In such a situation, the people especially the downtrodden section of the society are being pushed to the wall. Therefore, there is a need to put an end to black marketing and skyrocketing prices of the essential commodities so that the people here could heave a sigh of relief. The government must tighten its grip and ensure regular checking of markets, which is imperative for the change on the ground.
