Actually, education means the systematic learning of things. It can also be defined as the lifelong process that starts from birth to death. In other sense, it can be defined as the realization of God and yourself. In short, anything that adds something good or bad in a person’s life, is education. Education is important for everyone. There are innumerable ways through which we can acquire education. Going to schools, colleges, universities, Coaching centres, etc., are the ways to acquire knowledge or learn. However, in the present times, learning or education has assumed narrow meaning. As said above, learning is about knowing the environment as well as your self. But our institutions teach in such a manner that a person is not able to get real education. Now, the question that is of importance is that what are the causes responsible for this?
First is a syllabus. We have outdated syllabi. It doesn’t teach how to be compatible with the society. It teaches those things that don’t have practical sense. In the age of Science and technology, we are instructed to live like the early men. Our ideologies belong to that period which was uncivilized in many aspects. In this way, the main objective of education is lost in thin air. Hence, this society lags behind in every respect.
Second is we don’t know about life. Our concept of life is all about enjoying and earning by hook or by crook. In this atmosphere, children learn to know life in a narrow-minded manner. Students only have concerns: eat, love and merry. They are in a race to get paper degrees as early as possible and settle their lives in the best way possible. The result is that education lost its main objective.
Third is we all work against divine principles. Teachers as well as the students are in the same fray. Divine principles are about to know your worth here and decide what should be our priority. If our Creator says that the worldly life is a testing ground and the best person is one who knows this fact as early as he or she can, there are cent percent chances that this life is good life. However, when after knowing that we have to leave this world for something else where something better than material can help us there, we still follow the ways that lead to destruction. Students don’t know why they learn, if at all. They wear bags for show off and pretend to know everything
In short, we must try hard to know the real meaning of life as well as education. This will enable us to set our priorities right. So, the need of the hour is to do away with the rote learning and begin to know about the world through our inner as we well as outer eyes. It is never late to mend ways.
